As Connecticut’s public broadcasting network, our mission is to serve our diverse audiences to the best of our ability. The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is designed to represent the interests of our viewers and listeners, and to communicate these interests to us.
Mission Statement
The Community Advisory Board shall reflect the communities served by Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) through the review of programming and policies. The CAB shall also advise station administration and the governing board with respect to the educational and cultural needs of the communities and to make recommendations it considers appropriate to meet such needs.

Community Advisory Board Seeks New Members
The CAB is composed of members who are interested in CPTV’s programming and have new innovative ideas to bring forth that reflect the needs of the community. The CAB is seeking new board members who are enthusiastic about encouraging and advising the company on new programming and projects.
The CAB’s board members play an integral role in the cultivation of quality programming that reflects the needs of the community by engaging in public meetings, participating in community events, conducting ascertainment projects and hosting program screenings. The support and input of the CAB has enabled CPTV and WNPR to highlight news reports and programs that promote diversity and culture.
If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please send your resume to Joanne Whitehead, Program Director, CPTV, 1049 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105, or send it via e-mail to jwhitehead@cptv.org.
About the Community Advisory Board
- The CAB is an autonomous body that operates independently from station management, with the power to elect its own officers and to determine its own agenda.
- The CAB is permitted to review the programming goals established by the station, the service provided by the station, and the significant policy decisions rendered by the station.
- The CAB may make recommendations to station management.
- The meetings of the CAB are open to the public.
The CAB consists of a group of individual members, representing the viewers and listeners of Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) and WNPR-Connecticut Public Radio.
Through its regular public meetings, the Community Advisory Board is informed of program development and production and outreach projects proposed by CPTV and WNPR. The CAB is provided the opportunity to review and advise the company on programming and projects in progress.
In its advisory capacity, the CAB assists CPTV and WNPR with development and implementation of appropriate and effective mechanisms for community input into program planning and development.
By engaging in community meetings, conducting ascertainment projects and hosting program screenings, the CAB provides CPTV and WNPR with relevant feedback. These interactions allow CPTV and WNPR to reflect and respond to the interests of our community.
