WNPR Production Assistant (Internship)
Availability: Spring, Summer and Fall semesters
Hours: 10 - 30 hours per week. Hours per week are flexible, but require presence during mid-day hours.
Supervisor: Radio News Director
Job Summary: WNPR will provide training in news writing, newsgathering, research, interviewing, audio production, and remote recording. Intern will observe and take part in live broadcasts of Where We Live and Front & Center with Ray Hardman. - Front & Center with Ray Hardman is a weekly, half-hour television talk show on CPTV. Hosted by WNPR's Ray Hardman, Front & Center explores the interesting people and important topics of Connecticut and our region.
- Where We Live is a brand-new, daily news program produced by WNPR - Connecticut Public Radio. It is an interactive show, where newsmakers and listeners come together to talk about issues and ideas.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting computer-based research about show topics and stories.
- Making phone calls to schedule prospective guests and contributors.
- Screening phone calls during live broadcast of Where We Live.
- Write news and promotional copy.
- Gathering "Vox-Pop" interviews for produced segments of show.
- Attending regular show planning meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skill and Qualifications:
- Highly organized, self-starter.
- Must be able to arrive at work when scheduled, and meet deadlines as assigned.
- Ability to work closely with others in a newsroom setting.
- Practical experience or interest in news, radio and television.
- Outgoing personality, with a willingness to ask questions of newsmakers, and discuss topics with guests and callers.
- Ability to learn basics of radio production.
- An understanding of the public radio mission.
- A vehicle is preferred.
- The candidate should be pursuing course of study related to Communications or Journalism. However, other majors and interests will be considered.
- Candidate must be computer literate and possess keyboard/typing skills.

Pledge Drive Assistant (Internship)
Availability: Spring, Summer and Fall semesters

Supervisor: Volunteer Services Manager
Job Summary: This position will support the Volunteer Services department. During CPTV and WNPR pledge drives and special events availability to work 4 to 5 hour shifts Monday thru Saturday is required. Between pledge drives the hours are very flexible. Morning and evening shifts are available. This position is available as an internship or work study placement.
Responsibilities:
- Greet CPTV and WNPR guests including volunteer groups, corporate sponsors, underwriters, on-air talent and VIP guests
- Oversee daily set up and clean up during pledge drives including scheduling and delivery arrangements for food service providers
- Assist the Membership and/or Volunteer Supervisor during on-air pledge drives
- Solicit local businesses for food and beverage donations
- Maintain pantry inventory
Provide occasional administrative support

Job Summary: Assist in creating media campaigns for clients, working pre- and post-sale. Manage various elements of media campaigns including television, radio, print, web and special live in-studio events. Position will offer student ability to learn all aspects of sponsorships and radio television production in a major market.

Job Summary: Internship for various programming projects and documentaries. Intern to assist in all aspects of program production from story to air.

Reading Rainbow Project Coordinator (Internship)
Availability: One position extending over Fall and Spring semesters or one position for the Fall semester and one position for the Spring semester

Job Summary: The Project Coordinator, under the guidance of the Program Manager, will coordinate all aspects of the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, develop partnerships with appropriate organizations, institutions, and underwriters and enhance the community outreach opportunities available through the contest.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, foster, and maintain appropriate partnership opportunities to promote and conduct the contest. Liaison with Barnes and Noble's Community Relations Managers to promote contest. Create database for new entries. Organize mailing based on existing contestant database
- Coordinate all promotional activities (both air and non-air), working with Corporate Communications and Marketing to coordinate underwriter and press coverage; work with Web Master to promote contest on web, post winning entries from previous year and post new winners at the conclusion of the contest
- Coordinate and execute mailings pertaining to the contest
- Coordinate and develop all aspects of entry judging, including recruitment and contact of general judging panel, coordination of celebrity judges and coordination of judging events
- Perform administrative duties that relate to the implementation of the contest, including the sorting and categorizing of entries; printing and awarding of certificates; maintenance of winning entries and return of all entries
- Plan and execute Winner's Party/Awards ceremony, including purchase, solicitation, and distribution of prizes
Provide validation report to appropriate departments

Job Summary: To assist the corporate communications department with public relations and marketing duties.
Responsibilities:
- Collect news clips and assist in media monitoring
- Update and maintain media mailing lists, databases and contact information
- Assist in the creation of press materials for local and national media
- Assist in the copywriting and editing of corporate communications materials including publications, advertisements and webpages

Technical Production Intern (Internship)
